Accounting Firms

Accountancy in Finland is subject to the bookkeeping act. The Association of Finnish accounting firms publishes its own ethical guidelines for accounting firms called "Good Accounting Practice".

Because Finnish accounting firms are not legally authorised to perform audits, auditing is conducted separately. The accounting firm handles the bookkeeping and compiles the financial statement but then hands them over to the independent auditors who are no allowed to work in the same firm. With the exception of private entrepreneurs (a person carrying on a profession, a person engaged in a profession), all companies have to be audited.
