The rapid rise of the Finnish biotechnology sector can be traced back to the national technology programmes of the 1980s.
Now, twenty years later, impressive technology villages are thriving in the Helsinki Region: Among others one of the Europe´s largest biocampuses in Viikki including Helsinki University´s Biocenter, Biomedicum Helsinki in the Meilahti campus area and several business incubators and parks such as Helsinki Business and Science Park, Technopolis and Swing Life Science Center in Espoo.
No wonder foreign companies find this region a strategically favourable environment in which to do business.
